TOWNSEND – Community members came together at Archibald Lake in Townsend on Friday, August 21, 2026 for a successful waffle fry fundraiser benefiting AVAIL House in Antigo.
In just three hours, the event raised nearly $9,000 to support the shelter and the individuals it serves. About 200 people enjoyed waffles prepared by Nick Salm and his crew.
AVAIL’s director, assistant director and coordinators attended the fundraiser, helped serve guests and saw firsthand the work and dedication required to organize the annual event.
Organizers expressed their appreciation to everyone who planned the fundraiser, prepared raffle baskets, donated items, volunteered, provided space or attended in support of the cause. They credited the event’s continued success to the generosity and commitment of the Townsend-area community.
All proceeds will support AVAIL House and help fund a grant initiative developed by the organization’s staff.
AVAIL, which stands for Advocates for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Abuse, has served survivors since 1980. The organization provides support to survivors while educating the public and working to prevent violence.
AVAIL representatives thanked everyone involved for continuing to support the shelter and the people it serves year after year.
“Your kindness and support mean more than you know,” the organization shared.
