TOWNSEND – Members of the Townsend Flowage Kids Fishing Tournament committee presented a donation check to Drew Zelle, president of the Pickerel Chain Lake Association, during the association’s annual Summer Bash on July 18, 2026.
The contribution reflects the tournament committee’s ongoing commitment to supporting organizations that help people experience and appreciate the outdoors. Each year, the Townsend Flowage Kids Fishing Tournament donates a portion of its proceeds to groups that encourage outdoor recreation, with a special emphasis on children and people facing challenges.
The check presentation took place as community members gathered for the Summer Bash, an annual event hosted by the Pickerel Chain Lake Association. The setting provided an opportunity to recognize the tournament’s volunteers and supporters while highlighting the shared goal of preserving local waters and promoting family-friendly outdoor activities.
The Townsend Flowage Kids Fishing Tournament has long focused on introducing young anglers to the sport of fishing and building appreciation for the region’s lakes, rivers and natural resources. Through donations like this one, the committee extends that mission beyond tournament day by helping other community groups continue their work.
Organizers said the annual donation is one way the tournament gives back to the communities and outdoor spaces that make the event possible. The support for the Pickerel Chain Lake Association underscores the connection between youth recreation, conservation and community involvement in the Northwoods.
