TOWNSEND – Townsend, Lakewood, Doty, and Riverview fire departments took part in a live-fire training exercise on the evening of Wednesday, May 20, 2026, using a donated house to give firefighters hands-on experience in real-world conditions. The training gave crews an opportunity to practice interior attack operations before the structure was fully burned as part of the exercise.

Firefighters remained positioned around the property throughout the exercise to help keep the surrounding area safe and fire-free. Officials described the event as a valuable training opportunity for all involved and thanked Hansen’s Excavating for providing the structure used during the exercise.
