LAKEWOOD – The Holt & Balcom Logging Camp Museum in Lakewood will again be welcoming guests this summer. Free guided tours are available from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm every Saturday from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Operated by Holt Lumber Company from 1881 to 1927, the camp is listed on the national historic register. This must-see treasure is the oldest logging camp in America sitting exactly where it was built.
The site authentically depicts lumberjack life during the Big Pine Era. The camp is handicapped- accessible and recommended for ages ten and up.
Holt & Balcom Logging Camp Museum is located in northern Oconto County off Highway F, one and one-half miles east of Lakewood. Turn right into the McCauslin Golf Course and Country Club, then follow the signs. Park in the Golf Course lot; the Museum is directly behind the clubhouse.
Admission is free but donations to cover the cost of camp maintenance are greatly appreciated. For private tours, call 715-276-3505 or email kathiemarsh@outlook.com.
