WABENO – The Christian Thrift Store in Wabeno is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a Customer Appreciation Day on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 11:00 am. to 4:00 pm.
Located at 4541 N. Branch St., the store first opened on November 18, 2006. For two decades, it has provided affordable clothing, shoes, household goods, books, tools, small furniture and other merchandise while supporting people and organizations throughout the area.
The store began as a dream of Presbyterian ministers Dennis and Wendy Mannering, with 11 area churches involved in establishing the community-centered organization. Today, proceeds continue to assist people facing financial difficulties and support nonprofit organizations serving area residents. The store also contributes to worldwide missions.
One of its most anticipated programs is the annual Jingle Shop for Kids, which will be held December 1, 2 and 3 this year. During the event, children can select gifts for everyone in their families—including their pets—giving young shoppers an opportunity to experience the joy of giving during the Christmas season.
The store’s work is made possible by volunteers who sort and clean donations, price merchandise and stock the shelves. Community members interested in helping are encouraged to contact the store.
Donations of home décor, jewelry, games and puzzles are especially needed. Anyone uncertain about whether an item can be accepted should call the store at 715-473-6509.
Regular shopping hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 p.m. Donations are accepted Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Donations should be brought to the last rear door along Cavour Street.
The Christian Thrift Store invites the community to attend Customer Appreciation Day and celebrate the donors, shoppers and volunteers who have made 20 years of service possible. For updates and additional information, follow the Christian Thrift Store on Facebook.
