TOWNSEND – A group of local paddling enthusiasts will gather Thursday, September 3, 2026, for an evening outing on the Townsend Flowage. The group will launch at 5:00 pm from the South boat landing.
The group is led by Dick Kendall, informally known among participants as the group’s “Paddle-Commander.”
The paddling group welcomes men and women of a variety of ages and experience levels. Participants take to the water in an assortment of watercraft, including kayaks and canoes. Some members use stand-up paddle boards, while another brings a craft equipped for fishing. The group typically spends about 1¼ hours on the water.
To reach the South boat landing, travel west on County T for approximately .6 miles from Highway 32 in Townsend and turn right onto McCaslin Drive. Continue .3 miles and turn right onto Bennett Lane, then bear right at the fork in the road to reach the boat landing.
Following the September 3 paddle, participants are scheduled to head to the Sand Trap for food, beverages and conversation.
