The Wabeno Area Players mark their 45th anniversary of delivering outstanding theater experiences in Northern Wisconsin. As the group continues its longstanding tradition, they invite individuals interested in participating in the vibrant world of community theater to join them. If performing on stage isn’t your preference, there are other valuable roles you can explore—such as assisting behind the scenes.
An Assistant Director in a Wisconsin community theater supports the main director throughout the production process. This role involves attending all rehearsals, helping manage practice sessions, taking notes on stage movement (blocking), and stepping in to lead rehearsals if the director is unavailable. Assistant Directors also play a part in casting, contribute to the transformation of scripts into live performances, and act as the central point of communication between the cast, crew, and director regarding scheduling. Additionally, they oversee production paperwork and organize backstage activities to ensure smooth operations.
Individuals with strong organizational and communication skills who can inspire and motivate a volunteer cast and crew are well suited to the Assistant Director position.
If you are interested in joining, the Wabeno Area Players encourage you to reach out. You can call or text 715-850-0132, or email wabenoareaplayers@gmail.com. As WAP looks ahead to the next 45 years, new members are essential to continuing their mission of bringing the arts to the Northwoods.
