TOWNSEND – The Pickerel Chain Lake Association will hold its annual community picnic, known as the Summer Bash, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on July 18, 2026, at Oughton Park in Townsend. The event serves as the organization’s primary fundraiser and supports its work to protect water quality, fish populations and the overall health of the Pickerel Chain lakes for residents and visitors.
Organizers say the Summer Bash will feature food, beer, a live DJ and music, along with face painting, children’s games, meat raffles, basket raffles, a cash raffle with a $1,000 top prize and other family-friendly activities. Proceeds from the event help cover the cost of three winter aeration systems designed to prevent fish die-off, support the Clean Boats/Clean Waters program aimed at stopping invasive species, and fund seasonal maintenance at public boat landings and parks, including beach cleanup and the installation of a handicap-accessible dock. Oughton Park is located at 16448 Pickerel Lake Road in Townsend.
