GILLETT – The Gillett Area Chamber of Commerce invites residents, businesses and visitors to celebrate the completion of a highway improvement project and the opening of a new playground during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, October 16, 2026.
The free, family-friendly celebration will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at Zippel Park, near North McKenzie Avenue and East Park Street in Gillett.
The event will recognize two community investments designed to improve safety, accessibility and quality of life. The highway improvements support safer travel and stronger connections throughout the area, while the new playground offers a welcoming place for children and families to gather, play and make memories.
“This celebration is about more than cutting a ribbon,” Chamber President Christopher Byars said. “It is an opportunity to recognize the progress we’ve made together and the investments that will benefit residents, businesses and families for years to come.”
The celebration will include music, food, guest speakers, a Cub Scout flag presentation and activities for children. Attendees may also view a historical display highlighting changes in the area and attend the unveiling of a new community banner display.
The program will recognize the partnerships, dedication and vision that helped bring both projects to completion.
“We are excited to bring the community together to celebrate these accomplishments,” Byars said. “This event honors both where we have been and where we are headed as a community.”
The Highway Improvement and Playground Ribbon-Cutting Celebration is free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
