Since 2011, the Crooked Lake/Mountain Lions Club, has given a flag presentation to the third grade-students on Veteran’s Day. This year Lions Susan Zeyen and Terry Jorgenson visited Brianna Krysheski’s class to present the students with desk flags and a little pamphlet detailing the presentation being given. Lion Susan gave a talk on the history and meaning of our American Flag from its’ beginning in 1777 until now, explaining the meaning of the stars and stripes and how to properly display the flag. She told the story of Betsy Ross, talked about what the colors meant and discussed the colonies. Lion Susan brought her dad’s uniform from when he was in Korea and the children asked many questions and told them about their uncles or grandparents who were also in the war.
