LAKEWOOD – A group of local paddling enthusiasts will gather Thursday, September 10, 2026, for an evening outing on Waubee Lake, marking the group’s final scheduled paddling event of the season.
The group will launch at 4:00 pm and is led by Dick Kendall, informally known among participants as the group’s “Paddle-Commander.”
The paddling group welcomes men and women of a variety of ages and experience levels. Participants take to the water in an assortment of watercraft, including kayaks and canoes. Some members use stand-up paddle boards, while another brings a craft equipped for fishing. The group typically spends about 1¼ hours on the water.
To reach the Waubee Lake boat landing, travel east on County F from Lakewood. Approximately five miles east of Lakewood, turn right at the Waubee Lake Resort sign and then immediately turn left. After a short distance, veer right to reach the boat landing.
Following the September 10 outing, participants are scheduled to gather at Waubee Lake Lodge for a year-end celebration featuring food, beverages and conversation.
