Wabeno Lions Donate $1,000 to Backpacks to Go Program

whs lions backpack donation cropped 850x445

WABENO – The Wabeno Lions Club recently presented a $1,000 check to the WHS Backpacks to Go Program, helping provide weekend food for participating elementary and high school students.

The program addresses childhood hunger by supplying backpacks or bags filled with nutritious, child-friendly foods that are shelf stable and easy to eat. Volunteers pack the bags, which are discreetly distributed to participating students each week.

The Lions’ donation will support the program’s efforts to help ensure students have food available when school meals are not offered.

Pictured from left are WHS staff members Michele Rocole and Chelsie Stefanski and Wabeno Lion Carrie Moravec.
