UW–Madison Extension Offers Planning AHEAD for Life’s Important Decisions

planning ahead 850x445

OCONTO COUNTY – UW–Madison Division of Extension is offering Planning AHEAD, a free online educational program to help Oconto County residents prepare for future health care, financial and end-of-life decisions.

The program will meet Tuesdays, November 3 through December 15, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm via Zoom. Participants will receive a comprehensive workbook to help gather essential information, document their wishes and organize important records in one place.

Planning AHEAD addresses decisions that people often delay because they feel overwhelming or uncomfortable. By breaking the process into manageable steps, the program aims to reduce uncertainty and ease the burden on loved ones during a crisis or loss.

“Planning ahead is truly a gift to those we care about most,” said Katie Daul, Human Development and Relationships Educator with UW–Madison Division of Extension Oconto County.

Sessions will cover advance care planning, health care decisions, financial responsibilities, legal considerations, record keeping, distribution of personal possessions and end-of-life wishes. Participants will also explore grief, loss and family communication.

Registration is open at go.wisc.edu/fc2mcl or by calling 920-834-6848. Questions may be directed to Daul at Katie.Daul@wisc.edu or the same phone number.

Additional information is available at aging.extension.wisc.edu/programs/planning-ahead.
