Mountain Circle of Friends Joins Forces With NCAC in Pilot Partnership

ncac mtn circle of friends 850x445

MOUNTAIN – Mountain Circle of Friends (MCF), a volunteer group that supports seniors and neighbors in need, has begun a three-month pilot partnership with the Northwoods Community Assistance Coalition (NCAC). The pilot started October 1, 2026.

Until now, MCF has run entirely on volunteers who donate their own time and supplies. Under the new partnership, MCF will operate under the nonprofit stewardship of NCAC, which means community members can donate directly to the MCF fund to help cover program costs and make room for growth. NCAC will provide 501(c)(3) support, including bookkeeping, compliance, and regulatory help.

“The Northwoods Community Assistance Coalition and Mountain Circle of Friends have identified shared goals for our service area,” said Peggy Christianson, NCAC board president. “NCAC is excited to support MCF as they begin raising funds to sustain and enhance their programs.”

Mountain Circle of Friends’ current programs include:
– Helping with the senior stock box
– Volunteer support at the senior meal site
– Meal delivery, lawn care, and rides to appointments
– Friday ladies’ line dancing and exercise classes at the community center
– Hosting a Thanksgiving meal at the community center
– Providing meals and shelter during weather emergencies
– Decorating the community for the holidays

The goal of the partnership is to sustain these programs and expand them over time.

“Mountain Circle of Friends is pleased to be working under the non-profit stewardship of the NCAC in pursuit of our shared goals—providing for those in need, the elderly, the disenfranchised, and anyone requiring a warm meal. Whether we are delivering nutritious meals, offering companionship to isolated seniors, or providing critical resources to families facing hardship, this partnership strengthens our collective impact,” said Brenda Carey-Mielke of MCF.
