Forest Larger Parish to Host Blessing of Animals Service

LAKEWOOD – Forest Larger Parish Presbyterian Church will be holding a Service of Worship for the Blessing of Animals at the Lakewood location on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 9:30 am.

You are invited to bring your pets to this outdoor service which will feature scripture readings, hymns, and special prayers thanking God for the gift of animals. Please make sure your pets are on a leash or otherwise restrained. If your pet doesn’t do well at social events, you are welcome to bring a picture of your animal to share with us.

We will also include prayers for those who have lost their pets and encourage them to bring pictures of them as well. The service will be followed by a potluck lunch, so please bring a dish to pass. Hamburgers and brats will be provided.

We also ask that you bring your own lawn chairs. Donations for the Forest County Humane Society will be taken as well. Specific items most needed at the shelter are: Purina beef dog food, dish soap, laundry soap, or other cleaning products that would be helpful in keeping an animal shelter clean.  Please join us for this opportunity to celebrate the love and joy that our animals bring to our families and our lives.
