MOUNTAIN – A new Independence Day tradition is being planned in Mountain this summer, as community members gather for a public reading of the U.S. Constitution at the Log Cabin Museum in Fireman’s Park.
The program is scheduled for 9:00 am Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Mountain’s Log Cabin Museum, 13925 State Highway 32/64. The event will begin with the ringing of the historic school bell 13 times, a symbolic tribute to the original 13 colonies, followed by the reading of the U.S. Constitution.
Attendees will also be invited to enjoy a piece of the nation’s birthday cake as part of the morning observance. The program is expected to conclude at 9:30 am, allowing residents and visitors to begin their Fourth of July with a short patriotic gathering in a historic community setting.
Organizers said they hope the Constitution reading, bell ringing and birthday cake will grow into a lasting Mountain tradition that brings people together each Independence Day to reflect on the nation’s founding principles and celebrate the community’s history.
