WABENO – On Saturday night, May 9, 2026, twelve talented young musicians from across the State of Wisconsin will take the stage to impress the audience with their remarkable abilities and captivating performances. This annual event, known as the Huisman Honors Recital, is organized and sponsored by the Wabeno Area Players.

Competition and Selection Process

Students from participating schools have the chance to compete in the Huisman Honors Recital Competition. The event is named in honor of Richard Huisman, who served as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in the School District of Wabeno. Through auditions, eight to ten students are chosen to perform at the recital. Scholarships are awarded to those who deliver the most outstanding performances.

A Special Evening for Music Lovers

This recital is a unique occasion for music enthusiasts in Northern Wisconsin. Everyone is encouraged to attend, join the audience, and show their appreciation for the musical talents on display. The recital begins at 7:00 pm and will be held at the Nancy Volk Auditorium, located at 4325 Branch Street in Wabeno.
