The Laona/Wabeno Rebel Drama Department presents “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” by Don Zolidis from November 13-16 at the Nancy Volk Auditorium in Wabeno High School. First performed in 2007, this fast-paced comedy has appeared in thousands of schools and theaters worldwide.
In this production, two narrators race to retell as many of the 209 Brothers Grimm stories as possible within an hour. The show features famous tales like Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, and Snow White, as well as lesser-known ones such as Faithful Johannes and Lean Lisa. These stories keep close to their original dark tone but add comedic twists, reminding audiences it’s not a children’s cartoon. Students play multiple roles as the tales blend into one dynamic, action-packed narrative filled with devilish deals, death, and laughter.
More than 35 students and five adults contributed to this show, with notable efforts from Student Director/Costume Master Autumn Warden, Student Crew Leader/Set Designer Jedi Sarratt, and Character/Line Coach and Assistant Director Aidan Lowery.
Tickets are $5.00 at the door. Shows run Thursday to Saturday, November 13-15 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m. Wabeno High School is located at 4325 Branch Street in Wabeno.
